Using Writing and Vocabulary in Math Classes to Accelerate Learning for ELL
Presented January 28th
Presenter: Mary Russell, DPI Middle School Mathematics Consultant.
With increasing numbers of limited English proficient (LEP) students in North Carolina middle school classrooms, the need to focus on the academic language of math is essential. Writing is a tool mathematics teachers can use to address the language concerns that face teachers and students. This interactive webinar provides vocabulary and writing strategies, student examples from the field, and an opportunity for collaboration among teachers. The writing and vocabulary strategies highlighted in this webinar are critical for LEP students, but are beneficial to ALL students
